Here is my take on this, give me one successful athlete today, professional or in high school that does not have a persoanl trainer or coach and I will show you an athlete that is just thier to be on te team.
every sunday parents and kids all seem to want get the sunday paper and see if my kid name is in the paper, most times the number one place is a club coached kid.
Last year the Dallas Morning news ran an article about the Soccer camps and the rates that some of these coaches are paid. We have an entire industry built up on training the next Lebron James or Micheal Johnson , Serena Williams or Hyleas Fountain.
The problem with Texas is spring sports are an after thought to that injury prone game called American Football. Take a look at every kid that has made it onto the national stage, they all had a private coach or trainer. I believe the problem is level of experience. The vast majority of coaches in the High Schools in Texas seem to have been average athletes in their day, the AD needs someone to manage the spring program, while maintaing a focus on next football season.
Here's the line, Parents are needing every edge to secure a financial position to get the academic education they are seeking for their children. I find the majority of the coaches today cannot jump more than 2 feet, run over or even near a hurdle, and the good coaches have retired and become Club Coaches are private trainers.
Look at the Texas list of track athletes, Willie Kelly, Edorian McCullough, Dabrayn Blanton, Jerrica Chapple, Ashley Williams, Erin Bedell, Julian Richberg, Ashley Starks and even Jeremy Warnier, had club coaches in thier program.
Get over it, either improve on your skills or change careers this industry is bigger than any High School coach I know !!!!!!
